Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Selina Hinojosa, owner and founder of LIFT by Selina, located in Corpus Christi, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

LIFT by Selina is a Medical Exercise & Fitness Center. I help clients with medical conditions live stronger, healthier, more functional lives!

Tell us about yourself

I’ve been a fitness professional since January 2000 and started LIFT by Selina in 2016. I specialize in Medical Exercise because I feel I can make a more profound impact on my clients’ lives by helping them manage their medical conditions with exercise.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I overcame alcoholism, drug abuse, and mental illness… transformed into an Epic Fit Magazine Cover Model.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are many important decisions to make every day. You really have to stay focused on the tasks that will get you closer to your dreams. Thus, eliminate all distractions!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Write up a business plan. This can be as simple as a hand-written list of what you want your business to look like.
  2. Get started! If you wait for everything to be perfect before starting your business, you’ll always be waiting.
  3. Surround yourself with a solid, loyal team, even if it’s just one or two trusted professionals.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

It’s only by God’s grace that I’m here. But you have to deal with your part if you want to be the best at what you do. Stay focused, work your butt off, and keep going!
