Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sion Benchimol, Founder of Life Coaching With Sion, located in West Hollywood, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a trained and certified business, executive, and life coach. I provide transition coaching to my clients, helping them navigate through the changes and challenges they are facing in their lives to ensure they achieve their business and personal goals. I have a holistic, global approach to my clients. It is not only about guiding them on some professional issues or the identification and implementation of goals but also reviewing and addressing the other dimensions of their lives.

The basic premise that supports my approach is that business performance and a fulfilled personal life are interconnected. I bring neuroscience, emotional intelligence, and research on body and mind connection in my approach and technique. My clients are leaders in mid-size and large organizations as well as individuals, couples, and families. I do conduct my sessions in two settings: individual and group coaching sessions.

Tell us about yourself

Let’s start by saying that I have professionally reinvented myself a couple of times. I am a business consultant by training, and I started my career as a consultant for KPMG helping companies with the implementation of their marketing, communication, and sales strategies. I then transitioned to being an executive in large European companies as a sales and marketing manager and then holding director’s positions.

Twenty years ago, I moved to the states from Paris, France. I initially opened the door to being an entrepreneur and was an importer and distributor for European brands that wanted to thrive in the North American market. Parallel to being an importer, I also reconnected with my consultant experience and started providing companies with consulting and business coaching. Becoming an executive coach grew organically, providing career guidance to leaders in multi-cultural and international organizations.

It’s been motivating and rewarding helping my clients find the right balance between a fulfilling career and a more authentic and meaningful life, encouraging them to be bold, impactful, and inspiring. Later on, I enriched my business and executive coaching practice, and I started to provide life coaching to individuals, couples, and families. In retrospect, being a coach was a natural evolution of my professional and life experience. I am fully aware of the privilege of doing exactly what I love doing: helping my clients navigate uncharted waters with more peace, confidence, and power.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Undoubtedly, the positive feedback from my clients validating the pertinence and the efficiency of our collaboration has been foremost. This has also led them to renew their coaching engagements with my company

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I would say the solitude that we occasionally feel is the hardest challenge as a business owner. The need to interact with other business owners, preferably in the same industry, seems to be an efficient remedy to this feeling of isolation. This reality stresses the importance of being a part of professional groups, a community in which we can share our experiences, challenges, and successes.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, make sure that you take the time to clarify your vision. Which values should support your vision? What do you want to achieve? What are the resources needed to achieve your vision? (Financial needs, support system)… What does success look like to you?

Second, visualize the success but also the obstacles that you will be facing. Realizing the significance of setting up a clear plan of action. Monitoring the progress closely and implementing the necessary corrective actions if the company does not grow as planned or if it faces new challenges.

Lastly, make sure to always maintain a work-life balance. Reconnecting to your essential physical needs to enhance your well-being and performance. These incorporate the three foundational habits: good sleeping habits, healthy drinking/eating habits, and daily exercise. Adapting your schedule to optimize your mind and body performance will result in boosting your creativity, innovative problem-solving, and overall quality of work and life.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I am a firm believer that, with the right support and tools, any change can be a great change! It also seems essential to me that focusing on the human factor will enhance your performance as well as your satisfaction, resulting in your company’s profitability and image.
