What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an MWBE-owned business consulting firm. My firm is certified in facilities management as well as educational trainings and business consulting in multiple areas of business. Some of my clients include Chicago Public Schools, YMCA, and various non-profit and private organizations.
Tell us about yourself
I became an entrepreneur at nineteen because I wanted to have more control over my own destiny. I believed I could pioneer my own fate as I did not see many African American women in the spaces where I worked in corporate America. I wanted to be an example of excellence in my family, community, and workspace.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My greatest accomplishment is being in business for nineteen years. I have too many milestones to name, but being a viable and operable business generating revenue even after the pandemic is a level of success I’m proud of.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things of being a business owner is generating the revenue to keep you in business. You get out what you put in, and there have been many ups and downs with the economy.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure this is your passion. Your passion will carry you through the rough times. Remember why you do what you do!
- Nobody owes you anything! You will not always have the support you desire, but do it anyway.
- Plan, pray, and budget your time and funds wisely! Failure to plan and budget will put you out of business.
