Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lida Padro, Founder of Lexi Yoga, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

LexiYoga.com was launched in 2009. It is a fun and informative website that focuses on the healing benefits of yoga and healthy living. I've been devoting all my time and energy to making it grow. I write articles, post videos, and have yoga music and product reviews. I also have writers who contribute content regularly. I am extremely lucky that my yoga passion has become a successful online business. I love being self-employed, as I can let my own creativity shine. My viewers/customers are like-minded individuals who love self-care, yoga, and mindfulness and are into a healthy lifestyle.

Tell us about yourself

I was hooked on yoga from the very first class I tried. My body was stretched in so many ways that I felt so light, calm, and happy. Yoga is my passion, my happiness, and my joy. I feel so alive as I practice, especially during stressful and challenging times. I would never go back to my life before I found yoga. I have found my purpose and motivation and feel completely balanced, body, mind, and soul.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is that I have reached millions of viewership all over the world. I feel very flattered that there is lots of interest in self-care practices. Yoga is a form of self-care for the body, mind, and spirit.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I would say there are some obstacles along the way. Some people get jealous of your success and fame and try to put you down, or they try to copy you. In this situation, you need to keep moving forward and stay kind.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you are passionate about what you are doing. If you love what you do, then it will be from the heart. Your business will succeed as you enjoy what you are doing.
  2. Stay motivated, and keep going even if it's slow at the beginning.
  3. Never give up. Even when there are challenges, just keep moving forward past the obstacles. Eventually, you will reach a stable point in your business where you are happy.
