Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amelia Padilla, owner of Level Up Strength Society, located in Milwaukie, OR, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Your health & fitness is deeper than just six-pack abs and round booty! Too much of the fitness industry is focused on looks. At Level Up Strength Society, we take a holistic and practical approach to your health and fitness. Results come with consistency, not 90-day boot camps and fad diets. We focus on helping you find the habits that work with your life and keep you coming back for more! We pride ourselves on educating you about your body, how to assess weaknesses, how to strengthen your joints, and how to be aware of how your internal health affects your mind & body. Whether you want to climb a mountain, do a triathlon or just play with your kids without feeling tired & achy, we are here to help.
Tell us about yourself
We aim to get a barbell into everyone's hands! Everyone should do some form of strength training as there are so many health benefits. Even if the gym's not your thing, we can find a style & modality that works for you!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We survived 2020 and the pandemic so far! In late 2019 Amelia quit her full-time job and joined Alberto in the business. They were just about to sign a lease on a brick & mortar gym when the quarantines dropped! Working primarily online was not their initial business plan, but they've survived and grown (almost doubled their business!) from 2020 to 2021.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things as a business owner is taking a break from the business for mental health. Going on a date and not bringing up a business is a really hard task!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Network like crazy, find a mentor and get a bookkeeper.
