What's your business, and who are your customers?
LETELLIER is a cosmetic brand designed by a master Aesthetician. Our customers come to us because they want healthy skin and to age with grace. Our products are backed by science and approved by nature, which allows them to deliver lasting results.
Tell us about yourself
In 2016, our co-founder Kim had the vision to bring professional-grade products out of the spa and into clients' homes. She shared this with her husband, a brand strategist, and asked for his help in realizing her idea. The seed was planted, and LETELLIER was born in 2018. The support and enthusiasm we get from our loyal clients motivate us - as well as by the products we have yet to release.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a proud interracial couple in the beauty & wellness space, the example we're setting is not lost on us. As minorities in America, we know and recognize the struggle to get ahead and have sustained success in any industry. But our skin tone and complexion differences allow us to formulate products for the whole spectrum of light to dark. That's one of our edges. Every time a client leaves us a five-star review, it solidifies the goal that we had to bring confidence via clear and glowing skin. Knowing that we make a difference in their life is priceless.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Developing high-quality products is costly and time-consuming. We could have chosen a less expensive route by creating cheap products overseas. But the more expensive path aligns with our principles because quality is one of our core values. Initially, our active ingredient-rich products were designed for professional use only. Our skincare is unique and effective because we put it through rigorous testing.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't get discouraged. Not every day will be as you had envisioned.
- Believe in yourself and your products. There's a lot of competition out there, so what you offer should be unique.
- Hustle until your part-time gig becomes your primary source of income.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
All our products are made here in the US, from our labels to our packaging. It's important to us to make our high-quality skincare through supporting our local economy.
