What's your business, and who are your customers?
The Legal Lean Sigma Institute provides continuous improvement, project management, organizational development, change management, and Design Thinking consulting services, as well as training, certifications, programs, and workshops to business and legal professionals in law firms/offices and legal departments.
Tell us about yourself
When I graduated from law school and began my career as a practicing lawyer, I quickly realized that the way in which work was done and delivered could be greatly improved. Helping people work even better together is what motivates me every day!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is becoming a trusted advisor to our clients, who are also trusted advisors to theirs. This work requires humble curiosity and a genuine desire to help organizations, people, and teams become higher performing and higher functioning. I think that being the architect of how people work and how they collaborate and work together is incredibly empowering for everyone.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is that it can be all-consuming. There is always something that needs doing - you need to get the work, do the work, and run the business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do what you love AND are good at!
- Overall, do not care more about your client's/customer's business/project than they do.
- Surround yourself with people you respect and enjoy who bring complementary and different strengths to the team - and embrace constructive friction.
