What's your business, and who are your customers?
Acupuncture and Wellness of the Palm Beaches was created as a sacred space for healing, rejuvenating, and inspiring wellness through acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, integrative healing treatments such as cold laser therapy, frequency-specific microcurrent, ion foot detox, herbal foot soaks, and holistic medical skincare. We truly want everyone that comes here to feel amazing while also radiating beauty. Our patients range from those who want to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle, those in chronic or acute pain, people with emotional, hormonal, or weight management imbalances, and most of all, reproductive health regarding fertility, pregnancy, and menopausal years. At my office, we always laugh and say how blessed we are to have the nicest, most genuine clientele ever. We build long-term relationships with very meaningful patients, celebrating wins and grieving losses with them and inspiring them along their journeys.
Tell us about yourself
Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine chose me. I feel every day that I was born to do this work. It is as familiar to me as my own breath. Every day, I am inspired and motivated to do this work because I love the alignment I have with my work. I see the large healing capacity that it offers to so many others without the use of pharmaceuticals or invasive treatments. Early in my adult life, I began using acupuncture as a method to help with some gynecological issues I was having, and then shortly after amazing results, I then was introduced to a woman that I love to this day named Robin Saraswati Markus, who inspired me through her books, herbs, her grace and shared wisdom as acupuncture and Doctor of Chinese medicine. Then within a few years, I found myself renting a home from another woman who was an acupuncture physician. It seemed my life kept giving me little nudges. I worked as a birth doula and an aspiring student midwife while also practicing massage therapy and later because a holistic esthetician while raising my young children. I was inspired that it was time to take my accumulated knowledge, wisdom, and passion for helping others to the next level with the study of acupuncture and Chinese medicine and specialize in gynecology and fertility.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is being a business owner. Lol. I never wanted to be a business owner. I wanted a paycheck and to go home to my kids after a day of doing what I love, but it never worked out that way. I am naturally very independent, strong-willed, and passionately driven. I just started seeing one patient at a time at different spas that I worked at and then eventually got a studio and continued to grow into larger and larger spaces to which now my business occupies a six treatment room office working alongside two other amazing and gifted practitioners.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest part of being a business owner is honoring time off for myself, like taking vacations or days off to do more fun things in nature, where I also love to be. I think about the business often; I think about clients and want to research and do more for them.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
