Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leah Patterson, Founder of Be Move Have Digital Consulting, located in Jacksonville, AR, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm an intuitive business strategist who helps women suffering from anxiety and depression learn how to have successful businesses despite their struggles and setbacks. I help them stop self-sabotaging, develop their potential, and rise above the shackles of depression and anxiety in order to thrive in business and in life.

Tell us about yourself

I began working in this area after overcoming debilitating anxiety and depression myself. I've seen firsthand how anxiety and depression can stifle your business goals and mindset, even when you have everything going in your favor to succeed. In my work helping small businesses to grow and scale, I've seen behind the veil of these aspiring owners the issues that are secretly holding them back. These are the kinds of issues that no one really talks about and are especially not discussed in traditional business coaching. Because of this huge gap in service, I decided to provide it myself.

I uniquely understand how difficult it can be to follow traditional business advice when you're suffering from depression and anxiety. I aim to help women overcome this roadblock with compassion and understanding. What motivates me each day is knowing that these women can be successful - all they need are the right tools, strategies, and genuine support to keep themselves moving forward. They need a safe space of understanding to propel themselves.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has actually been knowing when to pivot and accepting that evolution with grace and excitement for what the future holds.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is accepting the personal growth that business ownership requires. In order to be a successful business owner, you have to be willing to become, in a lot of ways, a different person - someone often times well outside your comfort zone of being. Taking on this challenge of personal growth, however, is the key to seeing the success you aspire to.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be sure that what you want to provide has a large enough market of people that want/need it.
  2. Seek out mentorship and knowledge regularly so that you don't find yourself "reinventing the wheel."
  3. Seek out support for the personal development journey of starting, running, and growing a business - a space that can, compassionately without judgment, help you navigate your inner landscape with the same level of importance as navigating your business's landscape.
