What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help school leaders discover exactly what it is they are uniquely gifted at so they can work and play with their strengths, tap into their full potential, and raise the overall performance of their team and school while living a more empowered life.
Tell us about yourself
I started this company because there was a tremendous need to develop highly effective leaders in charter schools. My vision was to be the "Amazon" for charter school leaders. Creating programs and platforms to solve problems, close gaps, and accelerate the impact the school can make in the community. I wake up each day before 5:00 am, ready to make a difference with people who aim to make a difference. As I have grown my network of trustworthy third-party vendor partners, it has allowed me to expand LBL's influence and impact.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
During Covid (March 2020), we were able to build a virtual Inner Circle Mastermind where charter school leaders from across the country were able to come together each week in a virtual setting to talk through challenges, share ideas and strategies to navigate the school they led through the challenges of leading their schools. It also brought a sense of community in an isolated position. Over the last two years, we have grown the community to over 50 charter schools in four states.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Leading myself is by far the hardest! Prioritizing, delegating, and removing myself from "in the business decisions" is a daily chore!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know your strengths. Build a team around your weaknesses.
- Have great mentors.
- Grow your email list starting on day one!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
It's an honor to be a business owner for eight years. I never pictured myself doing it, and now I am pretty much unemployable!
