What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a private practice for mental health counseling. My primary clients are people having difficulty with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and life adjustment.
Tell us about yourself
I always knew that I wanted to be in business for myself and thought about becoming a counselor for years due to my own difficulties with depression and trauma. When the economy experienced a downturn, I decided to return to school for my Master's in Counseling. I love working with people on a variety of issues and walking their journey to health and happiness.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I don't have any business education, and I have figured things out as my journey has progressed. My biggest accomplishment is going into private practice and overcoming the fear of doing that.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Hmmm, in the beginning, it was owning my worth and setting my prices accordingly.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would recommend taking at least a few business/marketing/financial classes, setting yearly and long-term goals, and knowing who you are competing against and what sets you apart.
