Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dafne Tsakiris, Founder of Launch Point, located in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Launch Point is a consulting firm where we work with companies anywhere on their journey from $1M to $10M to create and implement systems and processes for sustainable growth and true efficiency. We help them document their workflows, solve for inefficiencies, improve the rate of client delivery, reduce errors, implement software solutions, and much more so they can realize their greatest potential.

Tell us about yourself

Prior to starting Launch Point, I owned a business with my husband for many years. After selling that to one of our employees and moving back to Colorado from Washington state, I had a lightbulb moment one day when thinking of what was next for me. Immediately the next day, I started Launch Point, and after 4+ years, I knew that this was 100% the right move.

I am motivated every day by showing my two young daughters that you get to choose whatever you want in life and to help guide as many small businesses as possible to realize their greatest potential.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to offer people a job. It might sound simple, but the fact that my business is able to create jobs and help people support themselves and their families is one of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Even with a great support network, it can be lonely being the owner of the business and the maker of all decisions. A lot of pressure rests on the business owner for the company to continue being successful and to make the right strategic decisions.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Whatever you choose to go into business doing is not the end all in all. You can change your mind. You can evolve it; you can eventually even sell it. Just start somewhere.
  2. Find a strong group of trusted advisors. You cannot and should not rely on just yourself.
  3. Find a niche customer base and differentiate yourself enough from your competitors to take a stronghold in that marketplace and niche.
