What's your business, and who are your customers?
At LA SmashCakes® we make Chocolate Piñatas! They look like actual cakes but are made out of chocolate and filled with candy. Each SmashCake comes with a mallet to smash the cake! Each LA SmashCake® is unique and original in design. If you can imagine it, we can make it! Our customers range from 3 years old and up, celebrities, influencers, media outlets, and anyone who wants a sweet, smashing experience! So make your next cake a HIT!
Tell us about yourself
My background is in design, and I am a chocoholic! I took my two talents - YES! Being a chocoholic is a talent - and combined them into LA SmashCakes®! I started working on LA SmashCakes® by playing around with chocolate in my kitchen. I wanted to design a unique, fun cake for my son! After many tries, the concept was born! My motivation is my son! He is the reason I started my business, and seeing the joy and excitement on my customer's faces when receiving and smashing their LA SmashCake® keeps me going!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is starting from nothing - just an idea, chocolate, and my kitchen - and building up to what LA SmashCakes® is today! The home of the original Chocolate Piñata!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is going through the ups and downs and still managing to proceed and succeed! Staying afloat during the tough times and keeping positive. Life is full of that, and so is business. Just keep going!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My advice to anyone wanting to start a business is - Plan, Be Patient and Persevere! Everything is a risk. If you don't try, you will never know what could be. Managing to get up and down. Success goes hand in hand with failure. Failure is just another word for learning and growing. In fact, FAIL - the first attempt at learning. So keep learning, growing, and taking risks, and success will follow!
