What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a female-led Med Spa & Beauty Bar in Markham, Ontario. We offer such a wide range of services that we've got you covered from head to toe! We are committed to offering the latest and greatest in beauty with a high level of professionalism, resulting in the best guest experience.
Tell us about yourself
I started in 2011 as a bridal makeup artist. From there, my love for beauty grew and has not stopped growing! From the latest and trendiest services to the tried, tested, and true, to all the greatest Health Canada-approved technology and gadgets.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We survived and succeeded in a worldwide pandemic! I (re)opened my doors in a new location in 2020 with just two employees + myself. I currently employ nine other amazing women that are so passionate about the services they provide to our guests. They are truly the best at what they do!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being a one-woman show. I have slowly let go of the reigns and learned to focus on growing the business while letting the Lashes & Lipstick team focus on what they do best.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Always do what you're passionate about. It will grow the quickest and easiest by doing what you love.
- Hire professional help for what you can't do. i.e., bookkeeping, accounting, social media, etc.
- Set policies and boundaries for yourself and your business. This will help your business smoothly and efficiently.
