What's your business, and who are your customers?
LaSalle Benefits is an insurance brokerage that specializes in employee benefits. We work with small and mid-sized businesses regarding their insurance needs.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in this industry for 32 years. I love to work with businesses-owners, CFOs, HR professionals, Office Managers, etc., to learn about their businesses and employees and find solutions to their issues. Love building relationships!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment to date is that we just celebrated our 5th year anniversary. Loved getting everyone together to have a great time to celebrate what we could only do together as a team. You cannot win alone!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The old saying, " it is lonely at the top." All eyes are on you. You are no longer a peer amongst the group; you are the business owner. The quicker you realize, the better off you will be moving forward.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First, make sure you are set up for financing your business. Have everything set up with an attorney etc. Second, put down all expectations, etc., in writing and agree to follow...You are accountable! You are now leading, no more following....if something needs to get done, do it. Lead by example.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
There is nothing like starting your own business.....You will learn and do things you never thought about. If coming from a larger firm, you will quickly realize all the resources you used to have are now all based upon you setting up, creating, and implementing.
