Tell us about yourself

I was initially very reluctant to step outside of my comfort zone because I was unsure how my business would align with who I am. To be honest, I wrestled with these concerns for several years. Little did I realize, as I continued pursuing my purpose related to ministry, I was simultaneously building my brand.

Weekly, I would go live with my then co-host of the “Create Your Future Self Live” live broadcast and share tips to help entrepreneurs. Victor and I hosted the show for two years, and during this time, I was compelled to start my own podcast, and opportunities to speak presented themselves as well as opportunities to train realtors in my local community in the areas of sales and leadership, and communication. I was organically gaining traction and building a brand without really trying. I was intentional about connecting with and cultivating relationships with individuals that I had synergy with.

Once I became intentional about building my brand, I focused on researching who my ideal avatar was and how to best connect with them. My top priority was building the “know, like, and trust factor” by creating “value-added '' social media posts, podcast topics, live broadcasting, and guest appearances on other platforms.

My business is an extension of my ministry, and this is what keeps me motivated. Through my company, I can serve individuals who have never stepped foot inside a church or attended a church-related event. My passion is people building, and that passion is not limited to those that share my same faith system.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been partnering with clients. I love being allowed to be a part of their growth journey and watching them transform into the person they have been called to be.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things for me has been accepting that I cannot help everyone. In my heart, I desire to help everyone that comes across my path, but the fact is I cannot, and that has been my toughest lesson.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Prioritize discovering who your ideal client avatar is.
  2. Laser focus on how to craft your message to meet their needs.
  3. Create content that will build the “know, like, and trust” factor with your audience. Basically, be yourself and always add value.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I would like to share a bit about my new book: Redefining Success: 8 Tools I Used to Develop a Growth Mindset. In this book, I talk about the importance of identity.

Everything—and I do mean everything—hinges on identity. It is the compass of our faith that aligns with the Holy Spirit to fulfill the Father’s will. Wrapped up in identity is who we are, the purpose of our being, and every God-breathed promise that manifests as our success. So, tell me. Do you know who you are?

This self-awareness is the filter for our desires. Identity undergirds our values, aspirations, and overall view of what it means to excel in life. Without the revelation of who we were created to be, a huge gulf tends to exist between where we are and what we are called to be, do, and experience. Lacking this inner knowing causes us to get caught up in fantasies and fallacies about who we are and what we want, which sets us up for a trail of disappointments.

Redefining Success helps you to determine who or what has defined success for you and how to take control and define success for yourself. It equips you with practical, implementable tools that can help you on this journey called life.
