What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a Podcast Host and Podcast Producer. I am busy with CEOs and Founders launching and managing a successful business, so they can create content that builds deeper relationships with their ideal prospects/audience.

Tell us about yourself

I am the host of the University of Adversity Podcast. I created this podcast to help people learn from stories of adversity. I have interviewed over 300 inspirational leaders all over the world.

As an experienced veteran with adversity, I faced some of life's most difficult challenges. I battled an addiction to drugs and alcohol for over a decade, lost my brother to suicide, and lost my father to cancer.

As a promise to myself, I made a goal to create a new life for myself by leaving an impact on as many people as possible. My goal was to leave the world in a better place than I found it. I made it my mission to facilitate the message of positive change through adversity and encourage people to see the light through the darkness of life's worst moments.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

When my podcast ranked Top 50 on iTunes Worldwide and #5 in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 20 Podcasts That Will Help You Grow in 2020 List, as well as top 21 podcasts to expand your mind in 2021 in business insider magazine.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is managing work-life balance. It's often said that becoming your own boss means having flexibility in your work schedule, but I haven't found that to be entirely true. Being an entrepreneur is what I love, but there have been times when balancing those two seemed impossible.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. It’s important to be aware of your competition and either appropriate or improve upon their successful tactics.
  2. You’ll almost certainly end up working harder for yourself than you would for someone else, so prepare to make sacrifices in your personal life when establishing your business.
  3. Providing good service to your customers is crucial to gaining their loyalty and retaining their business.
