Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gabriel Luber, Co-Founder of Lancaster Local Provisions, located in Lancaster, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm the co-founder of Lancaster Local Provisions (LLP), a mission-based business that makes it easy for individuals and organizations to support local farmers and food producers. We specialize in business gifting, and we help individuals and organizations stand out and deliver joy to their people!

We curate signature gift boxes with handcrafted artisanal products from our region. We specialize in client gifts, employee gifts, and corporate gifts. We make business gifting easy!

We're also in the process of opening our first retail shop in Lancaster City, PA.
LLP is a strategic partner with Lancaster Farmland Trust (LFT). We work to raise money and awareness for farmland preservation, and we donate 1% of sales to LFT.

Tell us about yourself

I was born and raised in Queens, NYC. I landed in Lancaster County at the beginning of the pandemic when my wife Diana and I came to stay with Diana's mother, Janet. We thought we were going to be here for two weeks... LOL! We decided to stay and make our life here, and shortly after, we launched Lancaster Local Provisions.

When we launched LLP, it was a fresh grocery delivery service. We had an online grocery store filled with organic, locally grown fruits & veggies and local groceries
our members would shop online, and we would deliver to their homes. We were going to help save the world and recreate a sustainable local food system in Lancaster County, PA.

The business has evolved over the past two years, but the mission remains, and that is to make it easy for individuals and organizations to support local farmers, artisans, and food producers.

I believe that when we support local farmers and businesses and reinvest in our community, everyone benefits!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Lancaster Local Provisions has received a lot of meaningful press coverage over the past two years. We've been featured on local television, including CBS (21) and FOX (43), and in Forbes Magazine.

I would have to say that my biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been the meaningful strategic partnerships we've created, including our partnership with Lancaster Farmland Trust and Discover Lancaster.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Some of my biggest challenges as a small business owner are prioritizing my weekly to-do list, staying organized, and managing my work-life balance.

My wife Diana is also my business partner, and creating work and life boundaries has definitely been an opportunity to grow.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Share what you love and what you're passionate about!
  2. Identify your "Why" and become a hero on a mission to accomplish it.
  3. Identify one or two growth channels and master them. You don't need to be promoting or creating content on every social media platform to be successful.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I believe that happiness comes from cherishing others! The most inspiring businesses are ones that function in the spirit of service.
