Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lainne Love, founder of Lainne, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am Lainne Love, an award-winning coach and leading edge healer specializing in transmuting trauma, overcoming limiting beliefs, and breaking free through self-mastery. I am an entrepreneur, bestselling author, mystic, and momma. My process is rooted in Universal Law and Unity Consciousness. Informed by spiritual psychology and neuroscience, and supported with subconscious reprogramming & energetic insights. My clients are visionary leaders and conscious parents - by this, I mean my clients are typically professionals, entrepreneurs, people pursuing growth and have a feeling that there is more, that they were meant for more, and that there is another way.

Tell us about yourself

I thought I was broken. I was scared, lost, and disempowered. Coming from a toxic family, I didn't recognize or know how to identify all the ways I could be better, brighter, and more significant. I had no relationship to how many hurtful programs, habits, and ways of being I had inherited. I was always interested in healing and all things alternative since I was a child. Studying science and healing came naturally to me. Trying all the usual remedies from self-help books to journaling to meditation to therapy with no profound results, I utilized my science roots, background in alternative health, and spiritual practice to do a deep dive into healing to uncover how to restore my innate brilliance that was lost in the chaos of trauma. I knew that I was meant for more and that I could get through to the other side. I just had to keep trying. I found the courage to draw a line in the sand and crawl through the mud to find my true power when I became a mom - I didn't like who my child was reflecting back at me. Knocked down seven times and got up 8 - I did an epic deep dive into self-healing. I took responsibility for myself. I worked full time, grew a business, became a boss, wrote a bestselling book, won an award, continued my education, single parented a neurodivergent child, all while being fabulous ;).

What motivates me each day is being better. I am driven by constantly reaching for a better version of myself. That means choosing to take responsibility for myself, my life, and my actions and then choosing to be and create something better. That means showing up and doing the work. When I show up and do the work, I become better, and when I am better, I contribute to making the world a better place. I matter. Who you are matters. Choose powerfully.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I won an award. I became a bestseller, and I got positive media attention and excellent reviews - I thought these were the things that would mark my biggest accomplishments. Being recognized, meeting targets, and achieving success are amazing achievements, and I am proud of myself for realizing my goals and providing a service that truly transforms people's lives. My greatest accomplishment is not giving up. It is winning the daily battle of me against me. It is.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

To be an entrepreneur/business owner, you have to be comfortable taking risks - beyond that - and this is something that often gets left out. You have to have the emotional resiliency to live with the risk daily. First, you take the risk. Maybe it's a loan, and you find acceptance in deciding. You come to terms with the fact that you are choosing this loan now and are aware that the risk is - you might not be able to pay it back. At that moment, you accept that. What needs to be discussed is the effect living in that choice has on your daily life. You have to accept that risk anew daily and how it does or doesn't impact you. You have to take risks and be able to live with them in peace - you can't let the choice of taking the loan eat at you every day. Assess the risk, understand the consequences, and find peace in your choice - choose powerfully. Integrate. Move forward. You can't stress about the choice you made.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just do it. Start today, don't wait for perfect. Books are amazing. I read one a week. Information is really easy to access. Learn. Reflect. Ask questions. And - NOTHING REPLACES EXPERIENCE - JUST START!
  2. Take feedback. How we do anything is how we do everything. Start noticing yourself. Your habits, practices, reactions, etc. Notice what you like about yourself and your strengths. Notice where you have room for improvement. Ex. say you are a parent - how to talk to your child? How well do you listen? Noticing how you interact with your children is great feedback for how you will likely treat employees/coworkers. Do you get frustrated when you have to repeat yourself? Do you allow space for someone to ask you for guidance? Do you talk over people?
  3. Refine - you are going to meet challenges often. Every challenge is an opportunity to improve a process, policy, or procedure. Be in the mindset of refinement.
