Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Aaron Rivkin, Owner of Ladder Coffee Roasters, located in Spokane, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a coffee roastery with four brick-and-mortar cafes in Spokane serving Specialty Coffee and food.

Tell us about yourself

I've worked in coffee for 10+ years and have found a passion for serving people with the excellence they deserve. Seeing everyone that encounters what we do and how much they enjoy our products and knowing the excellence our team puts into everything is something that motivates me to lead our business every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing our team serve our city with passion and excellence. Transferring ownership eyes is one of the hardest things to do in business, and our team thrives in taking ownership of what they do.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Wearing my emotions on my sleeve. Not everyone gets to know the stress and hardship it takes to be in the ownership seat.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do it with excellence.
  2. Don't do it alone; find mentors.
  3. Have fun!
