Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Trish Manaig, owner of La Bella Med Spa, located in Burlington, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
La Bella Med Spa is a personal care service built to help other people boost their confidence and enhance beauty. As a busy mom and business owner, a person's well-being and mental health are a very important part of our lives. I want to encourage more people to give more self-love and self-care.
Tell us about yourself
Hi, to everyone who hasn’t met me yet, let me briefly introduce myself; my name is Trish, and I'm a certified Medical Aesthetician and Laser Technician. My passion started in high school; I've always loved being in a skincare store and spent hours just looking into the ingredients of every product that would benefit my skin. My frustration with having flawless skin led me to this industry. Nobody’s perfect, but loving yourself and taking care of your well-being can get you close to feeling perfect.
My goal as an aesthetician is to bring back the confidence that other people lost just because of having imperfect skin/body and, at the same time, give them the relaxation they truly deserve. As a mom, I truly believe that everyone deserves pampering for the sake of our well-being and the sake of our mental health.
As much as possible, I wanted to target a realistic result and wanted to be 200% honest with all my consultations. With all my heart, I wanted to be part of my client's journey to self-care.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest achievement, yet I would say, is that we are still able to manage to survive and grow more as a business even after all this crazy pandemic has done to a lot of small businesses these past two years. For me, surpassing those two years is quite a big achievement since closing down the business is a very tough situation for a business owner.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I believe one of the hardest things is to keep up with social media these days. I'm not gonna lie; creativity and consistency are keys to this type of business marketing. Tiktok and reels make it fun and easy these days.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start a business that you know you'll be passionate about for the rest of your life; you need that passion to keep on going.
- Be consistent.
- Have fun building your business because you attract more positivity to your business that way.
