What's your business, and who are your customers?

Kyrgies is a brand of ethically made, responsibly produced slippers that are sold throughout North America.

Tell us about yourself

I was a music teacher for most of my career, but apparel is in my blood. We were introduced to the factory through a colleague from the pilot cohort of The Good Work Institute. Within weeks we were working with our partner factory.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping our partner factory hire and maintain steady employment for dozens of women, all at a living wage in healthy conditions.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

There's always risk in owning a business. It can be a stressful life.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure your brand has a story. That's what draws people.
  2. Make sure the product differentiates itself from the competition in quality.
  3. Make sure you enjoy who you work with.
