Tell us about yourself

I am the Owner and Founder of Latin Expressions Dance Company. I discovered my passion for Latin dance and culture while in college and started Latin Expressions in 2011. While keeping LE based in Indianapolis, I have taught, competed, and performed all across the nation and even abroad in places such as Nicaragua and Thailand. I am motivated by my students and my drive to grow the Indianapolis dance community by providing classes, dance events, and more!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been teaching and helping thousands of people achieve their goals and fall in love with Latin dance.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is the inevitability of letting people down. While running a business, decisions are always made, and actions are taken that will upset and/or disappoint someone.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Before starting, know/learn about your audience. What do they want? What do they already have? What can you provide that is missing?
  2. While running your business, you must adapt. Your customers' wants and needs may change over time. Never be afraid to pivot and deviate from your comfort zone. While adapting can be scary and challenging, it is necessary.
  3. To grow your business, you must always be asking yourself how you can improve. Business owners need to recognize their strengths and weaknesses and then seek ways to improve.
