What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is a medical aesthetic office that offers injectables such as tox and fillers. My customers are adult men and women who want to gently fight the aging process or enhance any aspect of their own facial features.
Tell us about yourself
I always knew I wanted to be a nurse practitioner; it's even in my 8th-grade yearbook. When I met my husband, he was doing permanent makeup in an office similar to mine. I was an RN then and planned to return to school for NP. When I saw the NP he worked with and her business, I was inspired to do something similar. Now, my office is right next door to my husband's permanent makeup office, and our businesses go hand in hand, and we help each other out.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My daughter. It's a long story, but essentially, I was able to have her and support and provide for her because of my business and being a business owner.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing is always being on. There is no off time. Yes, I can make my own schedule and take a day off when I want to but taking off impacts the business, and even if I am "off," I still have to worry about emails, calls, social media, marketing, and all the little administrative things that go into owning a business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research and due diligence in regards to what there is a need for and how to go about doing it.
- Do something you're passionate about and good at.
- Pay professionals to do the things you are not good at. It will save you money in the long run.
