Tell us about yourself

I have worked in corporate for more than a decade, but I always see my career goals differently than others. I never "dreamed" of an enterprise. I simply approached life hurdles as given opportunities. When COVID-19 happened, I reconnected with my childhood friends and started Krinjul. I have always been compelled to solve problems and have a tremendous impact on our society by doing some creative innovation. I knew that eventually, I would create products or services that people love to pay for and be crazy to have.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is one of Canada's first all-women-owned coffee companies. We had our successful launch in December 2021. We are gearing for a busier and more profitable year!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the most challenging thing as a business owner is remembering to think, not just do. Business culture venerates action. A few things that I always try to remember are considering the changing needs of my customers, our competitors next moves, and creating our next opportunities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know what your superpower is. Be always proud of who you are and lean into your differences. Your difference is what's going to make you stand out.
  2. Be adaptable. Every day will be a different road with twists and turns. Be resilient and learn how to pivot. Every time you fall, you can undoubtedly get back up again.
  3. Write a plan. Put your ideas in a notebook. Research and establish a business plan. This might not be a definitive business plan, but you can continuously refine this.
