What's your business, and who are your customers?
KPF Fitness & Dance is a fitness and dance company that offers a variety of classes and services to help people achieve their health and wellness goals. My focus is on helping people improve their physical fitness, strength, flexibility, and balance through a combination of yoga, dance, pilates, and other exercise modalities. My clients come from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels, but they all share a common goal: to improve their overall health and well-being. I work with clients of all ages and fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes from various locations in the South Tampa Bay area, including Apollo Beach, Ruskin, and surrounding communities. My classes, personal training sessions, and special events are designed to be fun, challenging, accessible, and inclusive, regardless of fitness level, body type, or experience level. I believe that everyone can benefit from regular exercise and movement, and I strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all of my clients.
Tell us about yourself
My fitness journey started at the age of 3 with dance. I studied various styles of dance and eventually graduated with a BFA in Jazz Dance Performance from The University of the Arts. After graduation, I worked professionally as a dancer, singer, actress, and choreographer for about 16 years. Even now, you'll find me jumping back into the performing world every now and again. While living in Los Angeles, I discovered yoga and fell in love with a new way of moving. I received my teacher certifications in both Power and Restorative yoga through CorePower Yoga and discovered my love for teaching. I also became a Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and qualified to teach on the TRX Suspension straps. My husband and I moved to Tampa, Florida, about 4 years ago to be closer to family. During that time, I helped my family open a boutique fitness studio called "The Pilates Room and Bodies in Motion Studio." I have also received my certification in Aerial Yoga. I am in the process of obtaining a Pilates certification through Stott Pilates.
What motivates me each day is my passion for movement and helping others. There is great healing power in moving our bodies and having fun while doing it. I believe that variety is key, and I strive to infuse the elements of dance, yoga, aerial, and pilates into my classes and private sessions to help my clients achieve their fitness goals. I love seeing the joy on people's faces when they reach certain milestones and seeing their sense of accomplishment and relief. Helping people achieve their goals is what drives me every day, and it's a privilege to be able to make a positive impact on people's lives through fitness and wellness.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As the owner of KPF Fitness & Dance, I take great pride in helping my clients achieve their health and wellness goals beyond their original expectations. It's incredibly rewarding to see my clients become pain-free and improve their physical function, strength, and confidence. My motto is that clients can always do more than they think they can. I strive to create a supportive and welcoming environment that empowers clients to tap into their fullest potential. It's not just about physical fitness but also mental strength and well-being. Rather than solely focusing on aesthetics, my focus as a fitness and yoga instructor is on functional health and helping my clients feel their best. This means waking up every day feeling pain-free, healthy, strong, and confident in their own skin. I believe that when clients approach their fitness journey with a focus on self-development, they're more likely to achieve their goals and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. In short, my biggest accomplishment as a business owner for KPF Fitness & Dance is helping clients realize their full potential and achieve their health and wellness goals in a sustainable and meaningful way.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a business owner and fitness/yoga instructor, one of the hardest things is feeling the pressure of being responsible for people's health and well-being. People often come to my classes as a last resort after having tried other avenues, such as doctors, physical therapists, or chiropractors. There is a great deal of responsibility that comes with being that last stop for someone and helping them achieve their health and wellness goals. Unlike other healthcare professionals, I'm not limited to treating just the symptoms but can take a holistic approach to help my clients understand their bodies and work with them to find long-term solutions. This means taking the time to understand their lifestyle, habits, and preferences and developing customized plans that work for them. The hardest thing, therefore, has nothing to do with finances or interacting with people but rather the pressure of knowing that clients have put their trust in me to help them and that it's my responsibility to deliver results. It's important to me to create an environment where clients feel supported and cared for and where they know that I'm in their corner, working with them to achieve their goals.
