Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christopher Kotsopoulos, Founder of Kotsy Photography, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Wedding and engagement photography. Clients are couples getting married.

Tell us about yourself

I first got started in photography by taking photos of cityscapes as a hobby. From there, I used my connections as a nightclub DJ to start doing nightclub photography. This eventually turned me onto other event photography, and then, finally, weddings became my primary focus. Client appreciation and being able to be creative for a living are what motivate me to keep going.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, it's making my clients so happy with the images I create for them.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Doing all the different jobs you aren't talented at, like marketing, sales, taxes, etc.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take advantage of the internet for free education. YouTube was a massive resource for me when I was starting out.
  2. Never stop learning and investing in your business. Whether it's more education or processes/help to make your life easier.
  3. Don't be afraid to ask your role models for tips & advice.
