Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jordan Sotiriou, Founder of Kombucha Warehouse LTD., located in Cuffley, HD, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is to provide a one-stop shop for all brands of Kombucha from all over the world and help people discover and explore the vast range of kombuchas available. Our customers are anybody from people who generally are into their health and well-being to people who are looking to improve their diet, cut fizzy sugary drinks out of their diet, and people who have stomach problems and want to boost their gut health by introducing beneficial bacteria and probiotics.

Tell us about yourself

We are brothers Jordan and Jack. I have a history in events organization, PR, and property. My brother Jack has a history in bartending events, organization, bar management, and mixology. I've been a Kombucha drinker for quite a few years, and my brother decided to brew his own, which then he then taught me. Once I got the hang of it, I asked him if he'd like to make our own brand of Kombucha.

On this journey, we decided to change track and create a platform in which we can educate people on the importance of gut health while providing a platform for them to buy these delicious tasty gut friendly drinks. And with this Kombucha warehouse was born. I talk daily to people who have problems with their health, uncomfortable stomachs, bloating, and tiredness, and this alone motivates me to keep pushing the importance of gut health.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The inclusion of smaller independent Kombucha businesses alongside the well-known ones in our subscription boxes and mixed boxes, both of which are sold on our website, has to be my biggest professional achievement. This broadens people's perceptions of Kombucha's diversity and adaptability. And be aware that there are numerous variations on the kombucha brewing process.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

CASH FLOW - deciding where, when, and how to spend it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make a solid business plan, and do your best to visualize your first year. Make sure you don't forget anything, and consider including a miscellaneous category in your budget for unforeseen expenses.
  2. Avoid overbuying stock since you can receive a better deal by purchasing a smaller quantity initially, even if your profit per item isn't as high as you'd like. In order to determine how and what sells the best, it is much better to purchase a lesser number at a higher price. Based on your findings, make larger, better-valued purchases.
  3. Find a marketing team that offers good value and provides what you require by doing some research. Still keep in mind that while the marketing team can place your social media posts and advertisements where they need to be, you will also need to spend for the advertising themselves.
