Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in jewelry but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Angela Karaguezian, CEO of Kirk Kara, located in Pasadena, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Kirk Kara's legacy spans four generations, multiple continents, and more than 125 years. Since 1890, our family has designed and crafted exquisite jewelry entirely by hand. Kirk Kara's pieces are all original designs inspired by the past and re-imagined for the present. Each detail is drawn from romantic patterns found in nature, architecture, and art. They're brought to life in the finest platinum, gold, gemstones, and of course, diamonds. Kirk Kara has won the most prestigious award in the bridal category, the Jeweler's Choice Award, ten years in a row.

Tell us about yourself

I first got started designing jewelry because I was inspired by our old-world family treasures. My daily motivation is to uphold our family heritage, which spans over a century! Since 1890, the Karaguezian family has been crafting jewelry. To be part of this legacy is a real treasure.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I enjoy working with the finest jewelry retailers in the world! Finding new partnerships and being able to showcase our work throughout the country and bringing customers' unique visions to life through our artisan's craftsmanship.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balancing my professional and personal life with two toddlers is my greatest adventure and challenge!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
