Peace. Purpose. Presence - Kinetic Life Coaching & Consulting

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christopher Jackson, Co-Founder of Kinetic Life Coaching & Consulting, located in Stamford, CT, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Kinetic Life provides 1:1 Life and Leadership Coaching for Mission Driven Small
Business Owners and Entrepreneurs.

My ideal client has been in business for themselves for at least 8 - 10 years. They are successful yet, are having challenges balancing their work and all of the moving parts of their lives.

My goal is to help them feel good about being in business again so that they can leave their legacy within a healthy and lucrative strategy.

Tell us about yourself

I first got into coaching in 2016 when I was helping to run a boutique fitness studio in Westchester County, NY. I used to teach classes and do 1:1 training for all sorts of clients, many of whom I considered High Achievers.

Despite their work ethic, many of our members often struggled with their weight and fitness. In fact, losing weight has been the thing that had been on their to-do list forever!

We did an excellent job of cultivating a supportive community that was inspiring and fun to be a part of. I picked up quickly that I had a knack for motivating others and helping them to realize their potential.

My belief that there is a champion in all of us definitely came out in my teachings. I was known for the results I got for my clients, not just for their bodies, but for how I was able to shift and shape their thinking about exercise and “whole life” wellness.

In order to finally “catch fire” for wanting to feel strong, lean, and limitless in their bodies, I helped our clients create what I coined a “Fitness Identity”, a way of being (someone who thinks fit) versus doing (someone who does fitness things).

In the Tri-State (NY, NJ, CT), it is all hustle and bustle for everyone, not just small biz owners and entrepreneurs. It's easy to become disconnected from your body, passions, desires, and key relationships.

When you are ambitious and dutiful, you will knock your work and responsibilities right out of the park. Yet, being dutiful alone just won't bring us the REAL success we are all looking for in order to live a fulfilled, well rounded life.

There is a quote that I often bring up in my coaching sessions by author Phillips Brooks that goes like this:

“Duty makes us do things well, but LOVE makes us do them BEAUTIFULLY."

Without love, all of the “doings” of our lives are incomplete and far less enjoyable.

I have never met anyone business owners balk at the thought of wanting more peace in their lives, more more energy or time to do all of the things they love.

This is why I teach them the three vital pillars for building an “On Purpose Life”.

Deep Intimacy: the art of becoming a person with the overflowing capacity to give and receive love.

Significant Mission: the honor of bringing their life message to their work and
answering the call on their life

Joy in the Journey: the willingness to slow down enough to look at cultivating success in more ways than they originally thought, in order to live a fruitful and abundant life.

It's fun exploring these pillars with my clients and watching their thinking and
perspectives expand week to week.

Eventually, they begin to learn that success is a methodical game and that it takes a big dream, an open heart, and thick skin.

I remind them that most people don't have all three and coach them not to be most
people.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Thriving in the pandemic and creating enough income to be able to afford a home birth while being able to continue financially supporting our oldest son, who was a junior in college at that time.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think there is a tie for the top spot here so I will label them as 1a. and 1b.

1a. Keeping the pipeline full with new leads.

1b. Running a business while launching a newborn and supporting my wife’s needs as she runs her own practice (she is a licensed mental health counselor who works with executives and upper management for companies in the Big Tech space.”

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Do NOT go into it without any passion behind it. If you are launching a business JUST to make money, then you will NEVER feel satisfied unless you made "enough" to validate your decision and weather the storms that will surely come.

This is where your values, mission, and purpose MUST be identified and adhered to at all costs.

Also, you need to know who your ideal client is, how you will absolutely make their lives easier, AND why it should be YOU they choose to work with.

Last piece of advice, know your numbers (cold) and everything required to make those numbers happen so that you can launch and remain in business.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Fun fact: I used to play professional (American Football) in Germany for 10 seasons (this experience living abroad has also helped cultivate my business as well - ask me about it later).
