What's your business, and who are your customers?
Kin Dee Thai Cuisine is an upscale authentic Thai restaurant focused on made-from-scratch with owner-selected menu items from owner home town recipes.
Tell us about yourself
After working in oil & gas started as an engineer and made my way to HQ management of Schlumberger traveled around the world for over 33 countries and lived in 9 different countries. There is always a passion for eating food that feels like home. After deciding to settle in Houston, I still couldn't find true authentic Thai food, so I decided to cook up the business plan partnering with Chef Miranda and Kin Dee Thai Cuisine in May 2020.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Managed to open a restaurant during COVID-19, starting when the city shut down but managed to set up the brand and grow the business through the most difficult time in the hospitality industry and success in keeping 35 jobs for the Kin Dee team and making customers happy.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The risk and decisions we need to take can impact us and everyone on the team every day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Pay attention to details from all angles, financial, customer services, food, etc.
- Monitor P&L close in real-time and take action.
- Take care of your team - build the right team.
