Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kara Hanks, Owner of KH Evolution, located in Rochester, NH, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I educate and guide wisdom seekers to follow their own truth by empowering them to trust in their own divinity of body, mind, and spirit. We each have an inner guidance system. When connected to it, we live our best life of service and sovereignty because we live in harmony with our hearts and the natural cycles of life. My customers are often women seeking change or are in a profound transformational shift in their life, in any aspect - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual - seeking to understand the deeper meaning of what's happening and find lasting solutions.

I serve them through my online and in-person courses and workshops, the Ascend membership, along with individual and group energy integration sessions. The Ascend membership teaches how to master your own healing and evolution through the natural cycles of the moon, the four seasons, flower essences, crystals, and other aspects of the Medicine Wheel.

Tell us about yourself

My journey began in seeking answers to my own physical health issues. Three decades ago, I didn't realize how much emotional baggage I was carrying and how much it was blocking my ability to heal physically. Through my slow transformational process, I discovered energy and spirituality are powerful change-makers. In fact, allowing the spirit to lead accelerates healing and brings comfort to the transformational process. Change is inevitable. Everything is in constant motion. When we can flow gracefully with the change by coming into reciprocity with Nature and our own Spiritual center, profound healing occurs.

I studied everything from earning my doctorate in natural health, herbs, and iridology to nursing, functional medicine, and spiritual medicine, such as shamanism. After more than 30 years of studying and my own quest to reclaim my health, I realized energy is at the core.Today my passion is awakening others to their own energy, spirituality, and frequency so they can live empowered, grounded, and purposefully.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Every day is a gift and an opportunity to bring hope, healing, and harmony into the lives of others by sharing what I have experienced and learned. Over the past few years, I have taken my in-person proven blueprint for personal health and happiness and adapted it to online experiences and a community where more lives are positively impacted. So often, I felt alone, isolated, confused, anxious, and afraid. I looked for answers outside myself when in fact, they were inside me all along. We are not alone.

To have a way to offer connection, support, guidance in finding clarity, and a proven system to trust in ourselves that can be utilized anytime, anywhere is my greatest accomplishment. And finally, as a single Mom of two amazing young adults who are navigating life from their own inner trust and knowing is my biggest accomplishment. The freedom and flexibility of having my own business offered to me to show up for them is something I will forever treasure. Success is measured in the lives we touch and the positive impact we contribute. I would like to think my greatest impact is yet to be.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Maintaining balance in my business and balance in life. It's easy to let the business and the roles the business owner must step into a moment to moment consume you, especially if you love what you do and are passionate about helping people. Realizing I don't have to be everything to everyone was key in creating healthy boundaries for me to grow and have more energy which allowed my business to thrive.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Follow your passion and get started today. What you are capable of envisioning today is likely very different from what you will actually create in a few short years. You and your business are meant to change and evolve. As you grow, your business and your vision will grow too.
  2. Be adaptable and willing to move and pivot to serve through your expertise. Spend most of your time in the present moment.
  3. Solving problems that may or may not happen can waste a lot of energy better spent in other ways. Lastly, always remember your customer, and at least once a day, try to see the world through their eyes.
