Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Michele Phillips, President of Key Performance, located in Remsenburg, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

It is providing leading-edge skills and methods via workshops and coaching to fortune 100 & 500 companies that increase confidence, performance & fulfillment.

Tell us about yourself

Key Performance started in 1997 when I gave a presentation at Fordham University on Leading with a Heart. An executive in my cohort hired me to speak to her executive staff; the rest is history. What motivates me is my participants' success stories; the lessons presented are immediately applicable and get magnificent results.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The fact that through all the ups and downs over 25 years, the business and myself are stronger than ever. The skills I teach benefit my clients, myself, and the expansion of the planet. This work is instrumental in the awakening of the world and humanity. I am a published author, have been on many television and radio programs, and have had monetary success. I've succeeded through market crashes, quarantine, and more, but the wisdom I have gained is my most valuable accomplishment. I now live in a deep knowing that everything is always working out for all of us. This peace of mind is invaluable.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I am the product and the service, and when a client would say no to me, I used to take it personally. It was as if they were rejecting me. I've learned that is not the case. I now look for "the believers" and clients that are an energetic match to what I am offering, which makes doing business much more pleasurable.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Only go into a business that you enjoy. This sounds cliche but is so instrumental.
  2. Work on the business as much as you work in the business. There is a difference.
  3. If every cell in your body tells you to move forward, listen to your intuition even when you feel fear. Fear will always be with you, but it doesn't have to own you. Move out of your comfort zone daily. Take two risks and call me in the morning.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Every person is looking to advance and increase their life experience. When what you do for living increases and improves a person's life, you are rewarded too. When your deep gladness meets the world's deep need, you know you are in the right place. MAKE it a great day!
