Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kerry Loeb, owner of Kerry Loeb Health Trainings, located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

After almost 40 years of teaching and many years of seeing clients privately, I have developed online programs based on all that I have learned- from an Eastern medical perspective. The theory in Chinese medicine is that if the energy in the body is moving unimpeded through the 14 pathways (called meridians). The ten internal organs they relate to, then health imbalances, disease states, and chronic pain cannot exist. Everything I teach is designed to accomplish this free flow of energy.

Tell us about yourself

At 69 years of age, I am living proof that what I teach works. I have no pain, take no medications, and look much younger than my years. I have practiced these techniques almost daily for decades and love to teach others how to add these strategies to their health tool kits and hear their success stories. I first began this work almost 40 years ago as I had a couple of experiences at that time that showed me the power of this type of work, actually life-changing experiences, in that this work was largely responsible for me turning around a number of very deleterious lifestyle habits, and showed me a way to achieve optimal health.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

There have been a number of accomplishments of which I'm proud, but I always measure my biggest success by how many people benefit from what I teach.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are days that I don't feel like handling the more mundane and tedious tasks that go with the territory of owning a business. That part requires some self-discipline and the understanding that these parts are necessary and important in order to get the word out to as many people as possible.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you absolutely love what you do.
  2. Have a vision, then break down that vision into goals - first, an over-arching vision of what you want to achieve with the business, then long-term and short-term goals of how you're going to get there.
  3. You will hit roadblocks, sometimes major ones that can derail you if you aren't prepared for them. Know that with persistence and perseverance, you will get through these blocks. It doesn't hurt to revisit your vision during these times.
