Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kelsey Knutson, CEO of Kelsey Marie Coaching, located in Easton, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a CEO coach for small business owners. My customers are 6-7 figure service-based businesses looking to streamline some processes and take intentional steps toward their goals. However, I love encouraging and inspiring people in all stages of business through my podcast.

Tell us about yourself

I remember the first time I hit burnout and fainted on the job. I also remember the day I hit $100k in revenue. Both have left a massive impact on me and how I perceive success. And both motivate me to help other entrepreneurs strike a balance between hustle and grace too.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping other business owners succeed. Some wins include: quitting side hustles, opening up brick-and-mortar locations, 3x revenue, decreasing working hours, restructuring business, and more. I hit $100k+ in 11 months when I had my first business, but I'm way more fulfilled by the success of my clients now.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Distraction and impatience. We are taught to seek out instant gratification, and sometimes looking for shortcuts actually sets us back.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Sharpen the skill of decisiveness and being able to make decisions for you and your business confidently.
  2. Put yourself first. The better you care for yourself, mind, body, and spirit, the better leader you'll be.
  3. Serve like crazy before you sell. It takes time for people to know, like, and trust you; water those seeds for a long time before you ask for anything.
