Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in Web Design and Development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kegan Quimby, owner of Kegan Quimby Web Design LLC, located in New York City, New York, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a web designer/developer. My primary customers are any small business that needs a website to be both designed and developed. Aside from that, I do a lot of development (specifically WordPress) for medium to enterprise-sized clients.

Tell us about yourself

I first got started after taking a few programming classes in college, and from there, I just fell in love with building websites. I love helping small businesses, and it's amazing how much a website can truly transform a lot of businesses.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is creating something that gives me total freedom of time and place.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me is focus. I have a list of everything I want to accomplish in a given week / month / year, but it's often hard to stay focused on these few things.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Create good habits. You can decide what they are for you, but small daily progress is much better than trying to do everything all at once.
  2. Make sure you spend some time each week working on marketing. There will be times when things dry up, and having a good pipeline is crucial.
  3. Take care of your body!!!
