Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kayla Sloan, Founder of Kayla Sloan, LLC and $10K VA, located in Lincoln, NE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My name is Kayla Sloan, and I am a coach for virtual assistants. I'm the founder of $10K VA®️, my flagship program, where I teach virtual assistants how to start and scale their own online businesses to consistently earn as much as $10,000 per month.

Tell us about yourself

My goal is to help people build virtual assistant businesses they can be proud of. I've been working in the virtual assistant space since 2014, and I can't believe how much it's changed my life. Back then, I was a single gal working a full-time job and virtual assisting on the side to help me pay off a mountain of debt. In fact, before becoming a virtual assistant myself by stumbling upon it, I didn't know I could earn money online as a virtual assistant with the skills I already had! Being a VA has allowed me to get a behind-the-scenes look at multiple six-figure and seven-figure businesses. Here's where I saw firsthand how even the most successful business owners still struggle with systems and outsourcing! It became my passion to help those clients regain control of their work lives so they could enjoy more freedom for the rest of their life.

Soon, I realized that I needed to do more to fix this problem than working one-on-one with my clients as a VA. Because quite honestly, there simply aren't enough hours for me to help every business owner myself! That's why I started my training program for virtual assistants, $10K VA®, to help more aspiring women and men get started working online as freelance VAs.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The thing I'm most proud of in my business is that I can sustain my family solely off of my business income. I started as a single gal, but now I'm a married momma of 1 (soon to be 2!). I'm the sole breadwinner for my family (though my husband does assist me in my business these days).

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The determination to keep going, even when things are hard. Things are constantly changing in online business, and it's a lot to keep up with! It can be tempting sometimes to throw in the towel but to be successful; you have to keep going.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't overthink it. So many people do this and don't actually start their businesses. You just have to get started!
  2. You can change your mind along the way. What your business starts as isn't what it'll be in one, two, or five years. Things are always changing, and your business will too.
  3. At some point, it will get hard, and having a good support system is key to helping you stick it out.
