Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kayla Estenson Williams, founder of Kayla Estenson Wellness, located in Eagan, MN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at my private practice, Kayla Estenson Wellness. I work with clients who are healing from attachment-trauma as well as those working through anxiety, perfectionism, and life transitions.
Tell us about yourself
After about four years of being a therapist, I decided to start my own practice so that I could have more creative control over what I do. This allows me to have a more sustainable weekly client load so that I can be truly present with my clients as well as have more space to create additional therapeutic offerings online. Every day, my clients motivate me by how they step into vulnerability and connect to their personal values and goals. This year, I have also been able to expand in offering to coach other wellness professionals looking to start their own practice!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I feel that my biggest accomplishment since opening my practice has been finding a work-life-balance that best supports me so that I can do my best work.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I find navigating imposter syndrome is one of the biggest challenges that comes as a business owner. Starting a business comes with so many new things, which requires working on being comfortable with learning a new skill set.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Take time to create a business structure that truly supports you, practice sitting with being new at something, and give yourself time to adjust to the changes that come with being a business owner.
