Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Katy Parker Gill, Founder of Chefs Kitchen Consulting, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a personal chef and kitchen consultant. My clients come to me looking for a memorable meal in their homes or to ensure that their new kitchens are highly customized and functional for their specific lifestyles.

Tell us about yourself

My bottom line is always to empower. Whether that means teaching someone how to put a great meal on the table or building a kitchen that feels like an extension of themselves. I want them to win.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Empowerment of others. Honoring their hard work and dedication to their family, friends, and clients. My services are almost always a reward or gift to someone who is hard-working, well-loved, or appreciated. It's an honor for me to be included in those occasions.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Providing a luxury service can feel intimidating to some clients, but I can almost always offer a scenario to fit their situation.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Get a business degree. The rest can be learned on the job. Just be humble and willing to learn from those who know the craft more than you.
