Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Katie Williamson, Founder of Yo Soy Pachamamista and Golden Goat Herbals, located in Nashville, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have two businesses, and they are not just my businesses; they are my life projects and prayers. One is called Yo Soy Pachamamista, and it is focused on teaching people in Spanish about fermentation, herbalism, and healing through reconnecting with the Earth and Nature's design.

Golden Goat Herbals is a product-based business. I sell herbal tinctures, salves, vinegar, teas, and other preparations locally in Nashville, TN, and also online.

Tell us about yourself

My friends and followers in Spanish call me Katita. I have been on an entrepreneurial path for many years. For me, it is also a spiritual path as it has called me to grow in massive ways as a person. I was always very good at school. I excelled when other people created structures in which I could flourish by following their rules.

My life as an entrepreneur has been the exact opposite (and very uncomfortable). I build the structure. I make the rules. It's all on me. Even though I do have support now, the truth is that the buck stops with me, and it's been a long journey to feel that it is an exciting responsibility instead of an overwhelming burden. I continue to be motivated by all of the ideas that I have inside of me that still want to be birthed.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've grown my YouTube channel to over 500,000 by myself - just me and my phone. I think that's quite a feat! And... I'm ready for more help in this next chapter.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes along with being a business owner is maintaining a constant level of discipline to keep up with the admin and accounting side of things. It is VERY easy to get disorganized, and it really requires a steady commitment to make sure the backend of the business is always running smoothly.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't do it alone. Find a partner whose skills complement yours from the start.
  2. Hire a good accountant from day one.
  3. Focus on systems organization and management. Could your business ever run without you?
