Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kathinka Rosiger, Founder of KR Fit with Food, located in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. Mexico.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Nutritionist, and my Business is Nutrition Consulting - but together with my husband, I also started a Property Management business 15 years ago (Wolf Property Management) - he now handles that one solo, and I manage my business :-).

Customers - pretty much anyone who wants to live a healthier and longer life - starting with children, teens, pregnant women, people who would like to lose weight, people with gastrointestinal problems (my specialty), and people who want to age healthily.

Tell us about yourself.

I first studied hotel and hospitality management because I wanted to see the world and love food (I am from Germany and studied in the UK). I worked in the hotel industry for ten years in several countries (Austria, Singapore, Greece, and Mexico).

When I met my husband, we both wanted to become independent. With my experience in the hotel industry and his in banking, we started the property management business. But there was still my love for food and healthy living... so I decided to study Nutrition in Germany and Spain and finished my Master's. I love what I do because proper nutrition can make people healthier, prevent premature death, and make people live happier lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Wolf Property Management is now a business with over 70 clients and ten full-time employees. It is known for quality, reliability, and consistency. I am very proud of this, as my husband and I sacrificed a lot of time and energy to make this happen. Now, with my nutrition business, every client's success makes me proud.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It never stops - free weekends, no holidays, the business is always on your mind, and you always feel responsible for what happens (even when you are not on site).

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make a good business plan and stick to it - it will keep you focused on your goals.
  2. Keep going. It takes a minimum of 1 year to start rolling.
  3. Treat your employees like customers - because if you can rely on them, your life will become much more manageable.
