Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rishabh Bhavani, Founder of Karmant Learning, located in Aliso Viejo, CA, USA.

What's your organization, and who are your members?

KARMANT Learning is a non-profit organization that provides free learning opportunities and wellness support to all youth to encourage balanced development. Most of our members are students in middle school and high school. We provide educational content and a curriculum that promotes five pillars of health: physical, mental, emotional, social, and intellectual. This typically leads to a more balanced life.

Tell us about yourself

I am a senior at Aliso Niguel High School. About 3 years ago, which coincided with the early onset of the COVID pandemic, I noticed that it was increasingly difficult for school-going kids to live a balanced life. That motivated me to start KARMANT Learning. During and post-COVID, we now have a full-fledged global crisis in youth development and well-being. I am a teen, so I wanted to bring people together to address this burning issue.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our organization currently has student volunteers from all over the world and growing rapidly to impact thousands of kids. We are happy to build meaningful content and support for healthy youth development. Every day I know we are positively contributing to making our future generation strong and resilient.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Tenacity. Learning to never give up despite the odds. Starting anything from scratch needs vision and lots of hard work. Covid was challenging for us at the beginning but soon became an opportunity as students worldwide were at home and had time to absorb new content besides their regular school curriculum.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Mindset - think big. Mostly, it takes the same time to build something small or big, so it's better to go big!
  2. Deliver value to the customer. Consistently doing this over a period will create a brand and trust that helps you grow faster.
  3. Good internal team culture. Have fun with the team during the company building. The camaraderie and friendships remain forever.
