Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Karina Baldwin, Owner of Karina's Yoga, located in Tacoma, WA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
The True Adventure Collective combines the physical challenges of pushing your body to get uncomfortable (hiking, climbing, running, etc.) with Mental Performance Coaching in order to help female leaders and entrepreneurs grow to be their best selves. Every entrepreneur has a plate that is overflowing. I help take them from being stressed and overwhelmed to calming the f*ck down to use survival mode for them. By joining the True Adventure Collective by way of 1 on 1 Mental Performance Coaching or an Adventure + Yoga Retreat, I assist you in using "fight or flight" with intention and make you a more effective person who can use your energy to maximize your performance in all areas of your life.
Tell us about yourself
I love traveling, and I love sharing new places with people and seeing their faces light up when they realize how beautiful something is. I show up every single day to do this work because when mental skills are mastered, there is a light switch that goes off. People are able to see that they are the reason that their life is the way it is. It is a powerful and slap-in-the-face realization that can empower you to take massive action out in the world. When I can help people realize they have the power to change their life, it's truly worth every second of it.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
To help 11 entrepreneurs on my last retreat take the next big step in their businesses. Two LLCs were born after the Baja Business Retreat in 2023 (there's another Baja Business Retreat in March of 2024!)
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Time management. You are the reason your business is running, and no one is going to make it work for you. You are the only one who can get your business off the ground. But within that is power. Because before you, this idea didn't exist, at least not how you have done it. I struggle to focus and be efficient with my time sometimes, but I know that it is only affecting me.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You do not have to be the fastest one. You will accomplish your goal when it is the perfect time to accomplish it. You have not failed until you quit, so build your business out of ease, security, and abundance.
- Ask yourself what you want to create, then start by creating it now. If you got into solopreneurship in order to work less, then work less. Learn how to be incredibly efficient with your time. It doesn't have to look the prettiest, it has to bring value to your ideal client.
- Hire a business coach. I have worked with mine for over two years now, and it's been the best 20K I have ever spent on myself. It has changed my life in more ways than just my business.
