What's your business, and who are your customers?
Hi there! I am your beauty strategist, a licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist who finds joy in enhancing one's beauty. No matter your age or ethnicity, I can bring out your best features, whether natural or glam!
Tell us about yourself
Beauty has always been a passion of mine. As a child, I would watch my mom enhance her natural beauty daily. I would be in awe at how it transformed not only her appearance but also her mannerisms. She was always the sophisticated type. But this would take her to another level! I absolutely loved watching the transformation. Watching her inspired me! The motivation to do this daily is seeing my client's faces after strategizing their new look is priceless to me. And their response of gratitude and endless selfies...LOL!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My greatest accomplishment as a business owner is the mere fact of becoming one! It was a little later in life than most in this industry when I decided. That alone was intimidating for me. But with the support of my family, friends, and God's approval, I am unstoppable!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
It is understanding the business aspect of it. There is so much more to it than giving a service, charging a fee, and collecting...lol. Take care of that now so you won't have a conundrum later.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure it's your passion! If not, you will lose interest, and it will affect your business.
- Charge your worth. Friends and family are not your target audience. Strangers are.
- DON'T GIVE UP! You will have some trying times, but that's the nature of the business. Stand firm and strong. You've got this!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I'm considered a "Late Bloomer" in the beauty industry. I transitioned into this career in my 40's. Don't let society dictate when, where, and how you should live your best life. No matter your age or background, go for your dreams... responsibly. This has been the most rewarding time of my life!
