Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in career development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Justin Falck, CEO of Insurance Advertising Masters, located in Omaha, NE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a consulting company that focuses on insurance agents. We teach them how to scale their businesses using online ads, sales videos, and funnels in order to create an inbound client acquisition system. Once that’s in place, we show them how to hire and train staff in order to free up their time and run their business like a business, not a job!

Tell us about yourself

I started in the insurance industry way back in college and realized that the widespread business model for insurance agents is quite antiquated and didn’t set agents up for success. After graduating college, working a corporate job, quitting that and starting an e-commerce business, then finally starting my own digital advertising agency, my best and favorite clients were insurance agents because I knew the industry well and resonated with their pain of constantly dialing, trading time for dollars and always feeling like you’re on the hamster wheel never creating any traction. This motivates me every day to continue to help these people because I know there’s a better way!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My employees/my team. Being able to create a business that can give people an amazing place to work and freedom to enjoy what they do has been amazing and the most fulfilling thing for me!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Everything is on you. In the beginning, you’re taking all the risk, then when that pays off, it’s great, but even at the top, things can happen that make you rebuild or start over, and that roller coaster can be tough.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be persistent.
  2. Do things others aren’t willing to do, and be prepared to do them.
  3. Make sure you create what you want, or before you know it, you could create a prison for yourself where you’re working 80-100 hour weeks, and you have time for the freedom or things you love that you started the business for in the first place.
