What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a certified personal trainer who offers health, wellness, and faith. I offer in-person and online 1:1 personal training, boot camps, group training, corporate training, and supplement consulting and motivational speaking. My customers range from women and men ages 5-80 depending on their specific needs.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Adenike but most call me “nike” just like the shoes. I’m a mom, wife, and lover of Jesus Christ. I’ve always been into sports so I took kinesiology with a Minor in sports medicine in university. I obtained my personal training certification in 2016. In 2017 after doing injury claims for over 11 years and becoming a manager, I decided to start my side hustle called just2sweat a place where faith and fitness transform lives.

My goal is to make sure people transform mentally, physically, and emotionally. I believe the biggest challenge to being a healthy version of yourself is not connecting the three areas of mind, body, and soul. I teach my clients how to keep all three areas in alignment, engaged, and thriving. My family, faith and especially reading my bible and praying daily motivates me to do what I do m. You can’t give from an empty cup so I make it a daily practice to spend time with God so I can give from a place of abundance. The love of Jesus Christ is my anchor.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment came in the pandemic when I pivoted to the online platform. I had 30 clients in my basement studio pre-pandemic for boot camps and now I’ve had 90 plus clients registered for boot camp every 6 weeks for the last two years. I also was on the cover of Canfit Pro Magazine which was an honour.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Owning a business will pull you in so many different directions. There are days you will want to throw in the towel but stay committed by remembering why you started and how many goals you still have to crush. Staying committed regardless of the direction of the market and learning to delegate tasks was hard my first year of business but you will learn how to navigate it all with time. Be patient!!!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just start, you’ve had the idea in your heart and can’t stop thinking about it. JUST DO IT! Stay committed no matter what comes your way. There will be up and down seasons just embrace and learn in all the seasons. Make sure customer service is your number priority. You will have difficult clients but your response to them is what makes your brand stand out from the rest. Never let a customer's complaint rude the reputation of your brand. Always respond with your brand in mind.
