Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrea Galbreath, founder, and CEO of Just Succ It LLC., located in San Juan Capistrano, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have a succulent gift and design company that plants happiness and laughter in the lives of others across the country. In addition to their incredible beauty, succulents have an innate ability to adapt and thrive. People do, too, and I do my best to share that message every day.

Tell us about yourself

I was in corporate wellness, and when the world shut down during the Coronapocalypse, I had to find something new to do. I had just made my yard drought-tolerant, and my obsession with succulents was in full force. I decided to adapt and thrive like the succulents I loved so much and started Just Succ It.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The growth I’ve had…no pun intended! Running a product-based business was entirely new and uncomfortable for me, but I like being pushed out of my comfort zone. Not only that, I’ve been able to combine my love of personal development with my love of succulents. I mean, how cool is it that I get to use succulent analogies that inspire people to live fully? It’s absolutely the best!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Well, I’m in charge of all the things, so when something goes awry, it’s up to me to own it and fix it. As a creative, it can be a difficult switch to go from coming up with the next big idea to sitting down and going through the administrative details. Sometimes it’s just downright exhausting. There are a lot of late nights, skipping lunches with friends, and saying “no” to things when I really want to say “yes.”

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Keep your day job until you can comfortably run your full business time.
  2. Understand that you’re going to make a lot of mistakes, but mistakes don’t mean failure. You have to learn from them and move on.
  3. Ask for help when you need it!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Running a business is a lot of fun and really fulfilling, but it’s not as glamorous as some people make it appear on social media. You have to put in the work. You have to do the hard things. You have to do things that aren’t fun. But if you’re willing to do all of that, the results will be even bigger than your wildest dreams!
