Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ja'Net Dessesseau, owner of Just Gracefully Driven, located in Fort Worth, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Through my company, Just Gracefully Driven, I believe in the power of purpose, personal development, and living the life we are purposed to have through goal strategy. I help visionaries to properly structure, organize, and strategize a plan for their businesses and or new projects so that they are meeting their goals for success. I teach that even though we live in a busy world, we are Just Gracefully Driven to live the life that we have been created for.

Tell us about yourself

I am a wife of 12 years and counting and a mommy of 6 beautiful kiddos. I am also a certified Goal Strategist, Life Coach, self-published author, blogger, and podcaster, and I often get asked the question, "How do I have time for anything?"

I've always been one to set goals, but sometimes life can get us caught in a whirlwind that we can find ourselves one step behind, and sometimes it pushes us to "choose." It took some time, but I decided that if I created a plan that would allow me to fulfill the most important roles in my life, as well as live the dreams that I envisioned for myself since I was young, then I would truly be living in my complete purpose.

It started small with those connected around me as they saw me achieve certain milestones in my life, and it was then I decided to help other visionaries know their why and set expectations for successful results and started up my business Just Gracefully Driven, LLC. I also decided to seek out a coach to learn how I can package my knowledge and expertise in a book. I wrote my book, called "So What's The Plan?" to teach the step-by-step strategy of goal setting and execution. I also conduct vision board parties to teach goal strategy through visual aides. I am ultimately motivated by my clients coming back to say Ja'Net, thank you, this works. To see them grow through the process of personal development and accomplish what they envisioned means everything to me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

That I decided to take a chance on myself and step out on courage to live the life that I was created for and that I get the chance to build a legacy for my children to not only see but be a part of firsthand.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Keeping your eyes focused on your own paper and truly minding your own business. They say comparison can be a thief of joy, and sometimes when we focus on how someone else's business is going or what it appears to look like, then we start to doubt our own unique greatness, which can be very hard. Stay focused and know that your community needs you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your research! Do not walk into this blindly. If you can get a coach in the industry that you are trying to get into business, then do so. Learn all that you can and ask questions. Network with others and get familiar with all of the aspects that you will need to start.
  2. Set your plan! As you are learning and getting familiar with all of the aspects of your new business, set clear goals of what you will need to get done so that you may be successful.
  3. Know your why. By knowing why you are into business in the first place and as you go through the process of starting it, running it, and growing it, will keep you focused on continuing even when it gets a little tough.
