Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rohit Banota, Founder of Jump Accelerator, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

A beauty-focused accelerator that hyper-grows women-led early-stage beauty brands. Our customers are early-stage beauty brands that are stuck around $1M in annual sales and want to scale up to $100M without spending a fortune on ads, agencies, retailers, or influencers.

Tell us about yourself

My Why Not is to create "A Woman's World" by helping women-led beauty brands make a difference to people and the planet. I am fascinated by the story of the homemaker, who, one day, decided to launch a beauty brand from her kitchen only to realize that she is now a $100M brand; in a matter of a few years, giving the big beauty companies a run for their money. I consider myself truly blessed to serve, every second of my day, these women founders, who are as driven as their beautiful intent. At Jump, we are creating a more humane, conscious & beautiful planet: "A Woman's World."

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Putting over three dozen women-led beauty brands on a hyper-growth path.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It is not a 9 to 5 or 8 to 8 job. It is a 24x7 obsession, at least for me. That's why if you have a grand vision, a burning desire to bring about some change in the world, you won't worry about the personal sacrifices you have to make.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be clear about your why or why not & put a stake in the ground. It has to be a burning desire. e.g., I sleep at 4 am, and while hitting the bed, All I think about is the time I will be up to resume working on the exciting stuff.
  2. Test all your value assumptions as quickly as possible.
  3. Test all your scale assumptions as soon as possible.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The only way you will be "in the reckoning" is if you are absolutely obsessed. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. Always uncover the fundamentals of your business and work on those instead of what everyone else is doing.
