What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an image consultant. I use my image systems to teach my clients to look good every day. My customers are mostly women, some men of all ages.
Tell us about yourself
I was National Trainer for Color Me Beautiful for seven years and then went independent. I love making my clients look great and how happy they all are when they leave.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My business has been around for 35 years, and word-of-mouth has been my only advertising.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The paperwork, data input, tax reports, all the invisible work like sourcing makeup and products.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Give excellent service to every client. Prepare to do everything, not just the fun part. Stay in your budget, keep good records, and grow at a pace you can keep up with.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
You need to like the job as you will have to work more than you plan to, and your help does not do it as you do, and you have to manage the help accordingly.
